In Bashkiria, they seriously took up increasing the financial literacy of the population

At a recent press conference held at the National Bank, the Deputy Minister of Finance of Bashkortostan announced the final approval by the government of the republic of the target program “Increasing the level of financial literacy of the population of Bashkortostan”. The Deputy Minister identified five most important stages of this program, which make it possible to make the residents of the region much more literate in financial matters. The first step will be the creation of information and advisory centers throughout the republic, which are engaged in disclosing the essence for ordinary consumers of the services they need. Similar centers have already started their work in rural areas. In agricultural departments, specialists explain to local residents all the nuances related to the issues of grants and subsidies, assist in the preparation of financial documents. The boundaries and tasks of their activities will now expand. The distribution of special thematic printed materials will also become one of the ways of financial education and familiarization of the population of Bashkiria with banking programs and offers, tell about their benefits and availability, or, on the contrary, about the risks accompanying the attraction of credit funds. This is also provided for by the above-mentioned republican target program. Elective classes in financial education will be held in schools for the younger generation. Even people of retirement age who attend the «People’s University of the Third Age» will be able to take a special course on a given topic. The initiators of the educational program did not abandon the possibilities of the Internet. A portal is being created for users, which can be visited without having to leave their favorite pages of social networks. Among the directions of work set by the republican program is the conduct of sociological research, which is necessary to establish feedback, determine the effectiveness and relevance of educational activities carried out among consumers of financial services, as well as to identify and eliminate its possible shortcomings. The project is designed for three years and requires an estimated amount of funding in the amount of 19 million 630 thousand rubles. At the same time, only 9 million rubles will be allocated from the budget, the rest will be provided by extra-budgetary sources. By the end of this year, it is planned to attract 1 million 720 thousand rubles. All mentioned amounts may change upward during the course of the program.
